New Year’s Resolutions – Are You Pro or Con?

Did you know that those who make New Year’s resolutions are FOUR TIMES more likely to make a positive change in their lives than those who don't?
Did you know that those who make New Year’s resolutions are FOUR TIMES more likely to make a positive change in their lives than those who don’t?

I have never made a New Year’s Resolution. Not that there aren’t many things that could use improvement in my life, but making a resolution always seemed like a silly way to make a major life change to me. However, my fellow blogger and friend Monica Lebre, has turned me around on this idea with one of her recent blogs. It turns out that those who make New Year’s resolutions are FOUR TIMES more likely to stick with their resolution than those (like me) who know they need a change, but don’t make an “official” resolution to accomplish it. Gasp! Four times?!? It’s hard to argue with results like that. Especially since there is literally zero downside.

So now that I’m a believer, what’s next?

Since I’ve never done it before, I’m not really sure how the Resolution thing goes. I’m guessing the Resolution magic won’t work if I keep it secretly in my head. But must I publicly proclaim my Resolution? Maybe I can just write it down somewhere?

For those of you who are pro-Resolution, how do you make them? Do you proclaim them from the rooftops or keep a more low-key approach?

For those of you who are anti-Resolution, what’s holding you back?
